It is beneficial both for the homes and industries as it is capable of generating heat, light and electricity for household, commercial and industrial purpose. Solar panel proved out to be the most effective and efficient alternate source of energy in 1970. At that period of time, the world was going through the lack of fossil fuels and that was the time of oil trade crisis as well which the whole world was suffering through. People started searching for the substitute and the alternate sources of energy and most commonly used was gasoline.  Then, gasoline prices also started rising and the lifestyle of the people got disturbed. So they stared using solar panels which proved to be very beneficial for them.
